Major League Baseball Reviving Baseball in Inner CitiesTM
Going to bat for America’s youth
Reaching the top in any profession takes support, encouragement, and opportunity. That’s why the work of Major League Baseball Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) is so important. For 18 years, RBI has been helping America’s inner city kids build their skills in baseball—and life.
Started in 1989 by former Major League scout John Young in South Central Los Angeles, the RBI program now includes 126,000 participants around the world. Its goal is to help boys and girls from ages 13 to 18 by:
- Teaching the value of teamwork
- Developing self-esteem
- Encouraging academic participation and achievement
- Increasing participation and interest in baseball
- Promoting greater inclusion of minorities in mainstream baseball.
KPMG Joins the RBI Team
Now KPMG is joining Major League Baseball and RBI as a proud sponsor in an effort to help even more
kids benefit from the RBI program. Through this sponsorship we will:
- Provide KPMG volunteers to help local RBI programs with on-field assistance and classroom mentoring
- Offer our assistance to local RBI organizations and help in creating a national board
- Help develop financial literacy and other life skills courses
- Sponsor RBI regional tournaments and the RBI World Series
- Provide $1,000,000 for program support and for scholarships for deserving inner city youths
- Make a contribution to RBI for every MLB run batted in during the Major League Baseball season.
Now it’s your turn to step up to the plate
When it comes to teaching the value of teamwork, developing self-esteem, and helping to improve academic achievement, RBI has made a real difference in the lives of inner city kids. But RBI can’t do it all alone. That’s why KPMG is inviting you to join us in helping RBI continue its work. You can pitch in by donating time, money, or both.
