House Bill Would Provide Business Credit for Qualified Thermal Energy Property Owned by Cooperative Electric Company
House Ways and Means Committee member Mike Thompson (D-CA) has introduced a bill (H.R. 3918), the
Thermal Energy Cooling and Heating Act of 2009, that if enacted, would provide a tax credit for qualified distributed thermal energy storage property. For purposes of the tax credit proposed under the bill, the term “qualified renewable energy facility” would be defined to include any qualified distributed thermal energy storage property owned by a public power provider, a governmental body, or a cooperative electric company.
The bill has been referred to the Ways and Means Committee. There has been no committee action on the bill.
